The Last Couple of Weeks ...

...have been pretty good despite the scorching heat of spring. Yes you read it right, SPRING! Two days ago, the temperature went up to 99 F and to think it's not even summer yet. I've always said that summer in Florida is worse than that of the Philippines. It can get really hot in the Phil but since it's surrounded by waters, it's not that humid. It's the extremely high humidity in Fl that kills you. I'm thinking of using an umbrella while walking around here when the sun is up. But on the second thought, I'd rather not choose to look odd being the one and only person who does that here. It's like people here embrace the sun and umbrellas are only for rainy days! For the Whites tan is cool but not for me. I cant afford to get even darker. I'm baked perfectly right and dont want to turn into a charcoal. So I'll just try my best not to stay under the sun for long and use SPF lotion when necessary. Actually I'm not a lotion person because it makes me feel sticky. Anyways here's wazzup with me for the last couple of weeks.

Dean and I watched Marielle as she participated in the spelling bee yesterday. She placed 6th among 21 participants which isn't bad at all. I'm still proud of her. On the stage she looked confident and was constantly smiling at me. I think that's the reason she misspelled the word and got booted out. She got distracted. Oh well, she can do better next time.

The final round was held in the school's studio which allowed everyone in the campus watched the competition on the TV monitor.

Getting ready for Easter by painting 5 dozens of eggs. It was my kids' first time to make Easter eggs. I eventually made those colored eggs into egg salad.

With me and my daughter is Tess Parkyn, my new found friend. She came to the States last November to marry her long-time American beau. This was taken on her 30th birthday two Thursdays ago.

I was in Wal-Mart and spotted this potted kalamansi plant. I got so thrilled to have found out that they're carrying this kind of citrus in Fl. I immediately bought one for $10.00. They have sweet potato plants too, the one with purple leaves which is good for salad, Pinoy style (toss it with tomatoes, onions, vinegar and bago-ong sauce ...yummy!). I already have kamote in our backyard so I didnt but any.

Also, I was delighted to have finally received our greencards after almost a year of waiting. I had to send back Marielle's card though because of some error on it and we can't get her SSN unless all information on her GC are correct. I was told it would take 30 days before I hear from the "GC office" regarding the card replacement. If the error was our fault they would require us to pay $190.00 otherwise, no fee. I think they're just trying to make money out of their applicants in any way possible. Oh well.
